Lately...

I am still here, just haven't had much time to post. I have SO many things to post about I have no idea where to start! Just been very busy and very tired.

Here is what we have been up to lately, hopefully I can find the energy to post pics this weekend......
  • I went to DC for a work trip and had an amazing time, my co-workers are so fun and DC is such a beautiful city. Cory had Carson all by himself for 2 nights and did a great job, I actually didn't worry one bit while I was gone, it is so nice to have a husband who is not afraid to "take the wheel"
  • Carson started army crawling while I was gone, I was glad Cory got to witness a "first"
  • Cory got me an awesome camera for my birthday! I can't believe I will be 27 tomorrow! I will be 30 in 3 years....very strange to think about!
  • We are painting the bedroom tomorrow and have family coming in town. Should be a fun weekend, ooohh and the MIL is bringing me cake - yum!

The Bathroom, Re-Done

So we finally finished the bathroom after one weekend and 3 weeknights, very exhausting!

BEFORE
The knobs/handles/hinges on the vanity were a faded gold color.

Very old fashioned handles in the shower:

For some reason blogger wants this pic to be vertical, I rotated it and saved it, but for some reason it won't work right. Anyway this was the light fixture, gold and brown.

It was quite messy before we started!

The little rolling organizer cart - had to go! Took up too much space and looked like crap. We usually would put some of Carson's dirty clothes in the cubbies and our clean folded towels on top. Cory is going to build a cabinet to go over the toilet for towels.

Shower curtain, not sure what I was thinking.

DURING
Ohhh the mess we made!

My handyman :)

AFTER

We went with a darker color than I originally wanted, it turned out better b/c we needed the creams and whites to blend and the darker blue helps with that.

View from on top of the vanity:

The new lights are SO bright it was hard to get a good pic.

White rugs, and you can see the new baseboards and shoe molding:

I LOVE the waffle look on the shower curtain and the white towels we have. We also got a new shower curtain rod. The old one from the previous home owner had pink paint on it.

New shower head:

New handles:

I pulled out some accessories from one of my Bridal showers: bath salts made by Kelly and the soap from Anthropology from Cyn. I wanted everything very simple, so the yellow soap and flowers (above) added a splash of color.
This is Cory's favorite accessorie, the toilet paper holder; he says I am bad about not putting the toilet paper back on the roll when we run out and that this will help me. He has actually compared living with me to living with a frat boy!

The new bright white baseboards really make the room look great. This is where we will hang the cabinet that Cory will make:
New silver and white knobs and handle on the vanity and a new basket for laundry, etc...

We got a silver towel rack and trash can.
We decided not to change the sink faucet, it just needed a good scrubbing.

We changed the light switches, covers and outlet to white (they were cream, with pink paint splattered on them, ick!)

Almost done...maybe

I wish I hadn't promised pictures by today, when typing that I knew I had jinxed the whole thing! And boy did I. A very simple thing turned into a huge project. Way too huge to have a 7 month old to take care of. For our next project (simply painting the bedroom) we have lined up Cory's mom to come watch Carson/help paint.

What we have accomplished:
-Paint (the color is much darker than my original ideas)
-Shower faucet, shower head, handles (this took 2 days believe it or not, we had to replace the wall behind the shower...I mean Cory replaced the wall...I just helped a tad)
-Light fixture

To-Do items:
-Replace handles on vanity
-Replace baseboards and shoe molding
-Put up towel rack and toilet paper holder
-CLEAN :(
-Decorate! :) We couldn't do the bronze accessories as our options were limited so we went with silver/polished chrome theme
-Paint the trim and door (this won't be done until we paint the bedroom white in a couple of weeks)

I would like to say that I am SO lucky to have such a smart, handy, hard-working husband. He did such a good job figuring out all the crap he had to deal with this weekend! I love you babe!

Bathroom Re-Do...

Currently our tub, sink and walls are cream-colored. We are changing the color of the walls to a pastel shade of blue-ish/gray-ish/green-ish/purple-ish...depending on what Cory and I agree on when we go to Home Depot Friday night :)

I have already purchased the new shower curtain and rugs (all white) I have wanted white ones for a while now. I want the bathroom to be very relaxing.

I also plan on keeping a few accessories that we bought when we moved into our house (bronze towel rack, toilet paper thingy, trash can and toothbrush holder). I want all of the faucets, and other fixture items to be bronze as well.

We won't be doing any huge projects for now (we talked of replacing the mirror, re-sizing the vanity, replacing sink and tub, and putting down a new floor) but decided it is smarter to put more money into our savings account...we will be needing an additional vehicle and savings for the birth and care of more babies in the future :)

Here are some pics of what I want to find at Home Depot:

Hopefully I will have some before and after pics to show you on Monday!!!!!

Reporting Back

Ok so it has only been one night, but the Pampers Baby Dry diaper worked great (knock on wood). I was hoping to purchase a couple of other brands to try as well, but they didn't have any overnight diapers in size 3 at Target. I did however find and purchase the cutest baby boy flip flops - a must have! I can't wait to dress Cory and Carson alike this spring in their plaid shorts and flip flops!

So... for the final diapering decision, we will use the BJ's brand during the day and Pampers Baby Dry overnight.

What a Wonderful Day!

A co-worker of mine just left the office, he and his wife and daughter are adopting a baby and the biological mom is in labor today! You can just feel the joy, the birth of a baby is so amazing and I am SO happy for him and his family!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why I love working here, these people are so wonderful!

Need Help

Carson has been sleeping on his belly, and the past week he has been soaking his belly with pee. I have tried a few different types diapers (none of the off-brands work), so I tried a Luvs diaper last night and it didn't work either. Is there a super diaper out there? A certain Pampers diaper maybe? I don't want to wake him at 2 or 3 AM just to change his diaper and risk him being awake for an hour wanting to play, but I can't have him being wet and uncomfortable like that. What should I do?

French

The past few days Carson has started jibber-jabbering more and more which I didn't think was possible! His little language reminds me of the episode of Friends where Joey is trying to learn French from Phoebe. :)

Beautiful Blogger Award

Thanks to Candace for My Award!!!!!!

With the award, I have to share seven random things about me:

1. I don't have to wash my hair everyday (its dry and course) but I do shower everyday unless I am running super late for work..in fact here is a frugal tip for a homemade shower cap - use a t-shirt, just pull the t-shirt off of your neck up to the hairline, throw your head over with the shirt covering your hair then twist the shirt and tuck it in the back (treating the T-shirt like you would a towel on wet hair)
2. I love cleaning out cabinets and closets to organize them, it is fun for me
3. Wish I had learned how to play the piano growing up
4. Love the Kardashians, they are freaking hilarious
5. I reference most real-life scenarios to "Sex and the City" or "Friends"
6. Love going to Target
7. Have only flown a grand total of 3 times: New York, Las Vegas and Jamaica (that is about to change...I am so pumped to get to go to DC for work)
I would like to give this award to:

The new "Do"

Before, all I could do with my hair was the scrunchy look (which Cory loves for some reason...when he found out I was getting my hair done, he asked me to get a...dare I speak the word....PERM, yes no kidding! He is so funny), anyway, my hair was too long and thick to take the time to dry it and fix it. No matter what I did (besides a pony tail) it stuck out like cocker spaniel ears.

The one attempt to straighten it in the past few months, you can tell it just needed a good shaping and trimming and my roots were way obvious:

Here is the new look, it will fade a bit, as it always does.

7 months

Look at those eyes...

Sleeping in Daddy's lap, typical Saturday :)

Lovin bath time

Interested in and grabbing everything:

New and exciting things Carson does:
-Can sit up all by himself
-Rolls ALL OVER the place, he is trying to scoot, but no progress yet, just rolling to get to the toy he wants
-He claps when we clap, so sweet
-Makes noises with his tongue
-Has "big boy" baths sitting up, and loves to splash and make a big mess!
-Chews on his sippy cup (not really drinking from it yet)
-Eats baby food 3 times per day
-Sleeping much better (knock on wood)
-He is a pro with his passy
-Laughs really loud with his Daddy, but I can rarely get him to cackle like Cory does (Cory says I am not rough enough)

Growing like a weed!
Weight: 17lbs 6 oz (went to the Dr. today for a check up on his ears, he is doing good)

Food he likes:
Cereal
Green Beans
Peas
Sweet Potatoes
Pears
Squash
Applesauce
Bananas
Peaches
Prunes
Carrots

Still eats 7oz of formula every 4 hours, and goes the entire night w/out eating
Bed time is typically around 7:30 or 8 depending on the nap schedule, and he wakes us around 5:30 or 6AM.

Sizes: Clothes are still 6 months, and 6-9 months; Diapers are size 3 (currently trying the BJ's brand, they are ok)

Toys: loves anything really, still loves the jumperoo, and the fisher price colored rings, he also has a book that lights up and makes noise that he is really interested in right now

Cartoons: He loves pretty much any cartoon - I however love Super Why, Curious George, Dinosaur Train, Clifford and Sesame Street (I HATE Cailliou, Dragon Tales, Word World, these shows are SO stupid and annoying!)

No teeth yet!
