Easter 2012

Hope everyone had a great Easter, we had such a fun weekend as a family!

Saturday, we met up with our friends and went to a local festival, they had an egg hunt for the little ones and many of our local restaurants were there offering cheap samples of there food, we had such a nice time.

Carson got to check out a Firetruck up close and personal.....

He also enjoyed all of the samples...especially the cupcakes!

Colin loves the balloons as usual!

After naps, we dyed Easter eggs with Carson, and he also got to paint some glitter one them.

The finished product...

After bedtime, the Easter Bunny came...

Carson got a new dinosaur, dinosaur gummies, candy, dino sunglasses, bubbles, chocolate/peanut butter bunny, a Braves pez dispenser, new books, and some glow-in-the-dark stars for his ceiling. I ran out of room in his bucket so I made a dinosaur nest for the dinosaur and his eggs full of candy.

Colin got a sippy cup, puffs (loves these!), spoons, baby yogurt (loves that too! and big brother always has to have some too), and a baby pool for the back yard (for both kids of course).

Here are some pics of my precious babies on Easter Sunday:

We also went to the zoo, Carson had an absolute BLAST!

Colin did so well the whole time, he loves being outside, he even slept for half of the time!

Carson stuff....

This post is mainly for me...so I don't forget how hilarious my little boy is, here are a few things Carson has said and done lately that just crack me up.

  • When we draw, I usually write his name and a couple of months ago he started learning that we have names other than mommy and daddy. After that we started teaching him his last name and writing it. And he says it like "Phiwips" so sweet. He will hand us the chalk/crayon etc...and say "you wanna write your Phiwips"
  • A few weeks ago we were on our way to daycare and we ended up behind a school bus in traffic for a couple of minutes and he was so excited, and he wanted to know where the bus was going when it turned, so I told him that the bus picks up big kids to go to big school, and he said "oh, the bus is going to the dinosaur's house"....I guess he was just thinking of something BIG.
  • Last week I met some of my girlfriends for lunch, and when I was brushing Carson's hair, I told him I was making him look handsome for the ladies, and he looked up at me and said "the ladybugs?"...:)
  • When he was outside with Cory, he told Cory "I got something in my eye" and Cory said "what is it" and Carson said "a ladybug" and he just smirked, I guess that's his version of a joke...I don't know what the obsession with ladybugs is....he is really into bugs in general right now.
  • He has never really been one to put things in his mouth, however he likes to put things in his EARS....he stuffs play dough in there and pretends its earplugs (he says earcugs) like Daddy wears when he cuts grass, and he has these little pencil topper animals that he puts in his ears like earplugs as well....oy.
  • He LOVES to smell everything, and I mean everything. I think he gets this from me, I like odd smells like books (old and new), plastic wrapping, paper, etc...Anything new that he sees, he says he wants to "mell" it. He loves to smell his feet...total boy!
  • Carson will still come sleep in our bed 1/2 way through the night, and one early morning, he heard Colin on the baby monitor crying while Cory was tending to him, and Carson rolled over with his eyes still closed and said "give him a bottle"...basically to get that baby quiet so he could get some sleep!
  • He thinks now that saying no thanks will get him out of doing a task he doesn't want to do...like this morning, me, mom and Cory tried to offer him some breakfast and he kept saying "no thank you though"
  • He has started answering questions with "no sir"...I guess he hears that a lot!

  • He counts to 15 in Spanish and he counts more often in Spanish than he does in English...I think I need to tune him in to Dora to teach him some more since he likes it so much!
  • He is completely potty trained during the day (oh how I hate public restrooms, I have now learned to never leave the house without Clorox wipes)...road trips take a bit longer now.....
  • He is just the best big brother there is! These 2 already have so much fun together, I can't wait to see what happens when Colin can walk around really play with Carson!

I just can't believe how much of a kid he is now, he will be 3 years old in just a few months! My handsome little fellow!

Colin, 7 months

Colin turned 7 months old today!

Here is what he is up to:

He is now such a little copy-cat; if we pat our knees/legs he will do the same, he also imitates some sounds we are making.

He can now say some consonant sounds such as, the "m", "g" and "b" sounds....He talks the most when he is mad. He also squeals a lot.

He is eating about 6 oz every 4 hours, and he eats 3 meals per day of baby food. He chews on everything, and always has a finger in his mouth when he's awake, the teething pain bothers him sometimes, and he hasn't been sleeping as well.

He is starting to get frustrated with the fact that he can't crawl. And he tries to pull up on something when he gets a chance.
(pulling himself up in brother's truck)

He is a big boy (about 18 1/2 lbs), I have had to get down some of Carson's 9 month clothes from the attic a little early. He is wearing a size 4 diaper now.

Still loves his passy and blanky when he is sleepy, and takes about 3-4 naps per day.

We have been doing a lot of special activities now that I am not working anymore, and he loves story time and the park. Wears him out!

One of my new favorite things he does now is reach for me when I come close to him, I love that! He is also getting a little more clingy, most times if I walk by him and don't pick him up he gets hysterical.

He LOVES playing outside, he just wiggles his toes in the grass and also tried to eat the grass.

He watches Carson like a hawk, they love each other so much and are interacting much more, it's so sweet. I am so glad they get to spend all day, every day together now!

Happy 7 months Colin! We love you!

Carson Lately....

Oh Carson....who needs a TV when we have you! Seriously, this kid is hilarious.

Carson is a little over 2 1/2 years old and we often forget that. He acts much older than he is...

He absolutely loves music and singing, he now can sing his favorite songs entirely, and his favorite is still "Take me out to the ballgame" I am pretty sure we will be having a baseball themed birthday in August! I am also sure that a few Braves games are in store for this summer as well! I can't wait to get the boys matching Braves shirts.

He is ALMOST potty trained, he wears underwear to school and has been coming home with no accidents reported for the last week! He has pooped in the potty a few times, but really still prefers a diaper for that part, I am not worried I know he will eventually get it.

His favorite activities are playing outside (obviously!), playdough and coloring. Oh yeah and bossing Colin around!

He has really been loving books and movies. He is old enough now where he prefers the books that have a storyline, and he can sit still long enough to watch a good portion of a movie. He loves the movie CARS, and we watch it almost every night. He loves Mater, what's not to love!

Here are a few pictures of my adorable little boy:

Such an angel when he sleeps...

Such a handsome fellow....(Daddy taught him how to put his hands in his pocket, and he thinks its the coolest thing ever!)

The best big brother there is....

As goofy as they come.....

Just all around precious!

Colin, 6 months

So my baby boy is 6 months old, 1/2 a year. It really seems like just yesterday I was leaving the hospital. The journey from the hospital to home after giving birth is a bittersweet one for me, yes I was ready to go home and I really missed Carson, but I knew that leaving the hospital is the first step to the "baby days" just flying by. And they have.......

At 6 months Colin:
  • Can sit up all by himself! He just started doing this the past couple of weeks, and he loves his new found independence.

  • Has been rolling over some as well.
  • We stopped swaddling him, I can't believe we made it this long, but I could tell it wasn't the right thing for him anymore.
  • As far as sleeping goes, there is never anything constant. We pretty much do what is needed for everyone to get sleep.
  • Colin loves a blanky when he is sleepy, he likes to snuggle it to his face and it calms him down. So sweet.
  • He still loves playing with his feet, on weekend mornings when we all just want to lay in bed and Colin is ready to wake up and play, we put him in the bed and un-do his sleeper so he can play with his feet and he will do that for at least 30 minutes.
  • Loves taking baths and showers.
  • Grabs everything in sight.
  • Loves the jumperoo, no longer a fan of the exersaucer. I put the bumbo away, he almost slides his way out when I put him in, so I don't like it anymore, it was good for helping him gain some body control though.
  • Loves this little book that makes noise like paper, loves balloons (v-day), and loves to chew on his sophie giraffe. He also chews on his fingers constantly.

  • Loves baby food, he has had sweet potatoes, peas, applesauce, pears, bananas, cereal and oatmeal. He eats in the highchair and likes sitting there so he can see all of us.

  • He eats about 6 oz of formula ever 4 hours.
  • His blonde hair is getting thicker.
  • Loves that big brother of his, if he hears Carson's voice he MUST find him.
  • He got to swing outside on the swingset for the first time and LOVED it!

  • He wears 6 month (little snug) and 6-9 month clothes.
  • He weighs 18 pounds.
  • In a size 3 diaper, and has started to leak during the night, so we will have to change him in the middle of the night or get some night-time diapers.
  • He takes about 3 - 4 short naps per day.
  • Is the happiest baby, lately it doesn't take much to get him to laugh and smile.

Happy 6 months sweet baby!

Brothers.......

I love my boys.....

They have such a sweet relationship already....

The first thing Carson says every morning is "oh! I need to see Colin" and he showers him with tons of hugs and kisses.

This is just one of the most adorable pictures I have ever captured......

On nights when Colin needs a bath, I ask Carson if he wants to take a bath too, and he says no. But once I put Colin in the tub, Carson is right there begging to take a bath too! He loves to pour water on Colin.

Colin already thinks the world of Carson, he watches him constantly and is always smiling and laughing at him....

Colin, 5 months old

Sweet Colin is growing like a weed! He has changed so much in the past month, and it is going by too quickly.

Here is what he is up to lately:

  • He is loving his exersaucer that he got from Santa (I have not even had time to do a Christmas post, but I will get that up at some point, even though it is super late!)
  • He loves his big brother, his eyes follow Carson all over the room.
  • He is super close to rolling over on his belly.
  • He is really babbling and experimenting with new sounds, and he loves to stick his tongue out.
  • He is not an independent sleeper anymore....I have just decided I am doomed in this area of raising kids! My kids love sleeping with us. I don't fight it anymore, I would just rather get some sleep no matter who I am sleeping beside! So I am gonna start saving up for a King size bed. :)
  • He is so ticklish everywhere!
  • He loves his showers with Mommy and Daddy and Carson.
  • We still swaddle him, but he is starting to get out more and more.
  • He slobbers constantly, and chews on everything he can get his hands on.
  • He grabs whatever is in front of him now, we really have to watch him!
  • He is drinking about 6-7 oz every 3-4 hours, and we started to introduce some cereal and oatmeal, but he gags and cries most of the time, so we aren't pushing it. I just give it a try almost every evening, and when he gets upset I just stop. This is very different than Carson, I remember it being much easier with him.
  • He is still in a size 2 diaper, but we bought some size 3's b/c its time to move up as soon as we finish the last pack of 2's.
  • He wears size 6 months clothes, there are just a couple of 3-6 months outfits he can still wear, but not for long.
  • They are putting him in the jumperoo at daycare and he is loving it!
  • His hair is getting thicker and lightening up.
  • He still sleeps a lot in the swing, we are wearing that thing out this go-round!
  • He loves to play with his feet, pretty sure those are his favorite toys. He also is really liking the little fish aquarium in his crib.
  • He is constantly kicking his feet.
  • He can pass objects from hand to hand. And he is very aggressive grabbing his passy and bottle.
  • He weighs almost 16 pounds.
  • He is starting to pinch and grab hair. If you get your face close enough to him he HAS to grab it.
  • He has the sweetest little quirks: when he drinks his bottle his likes to rest his hands on his nose/between his eyes. When he is being rocked to sleep he wants to be holding a blanky to his cheek.

He has started to notice the dogs, and he follows them with his eyes.

First time to try solids, it was a family affair; I was feeding him, Daddy was taking pics and Carson was cheering him on. I let Carson try Colin's oatmeal and he gagged  b/c it tasted so bad to him.

He likes the bumbo ok, but he doesn't stay there long before he gets uncomfortable.

Such a cutie, I love his little dimples!

Happy five months Colin!!!!!!!!!!! We love you!
